I am looking for soft knit --like what is used for ladies underwear. Anyone know of a source? or what kind to look for at my local fabric stores?

There are a lot of different things used for underwear now a-days...one of the most common "older" fabrics was nylon tricot. I don't exactly know where you might find it. It is one of those things that you run across every now and again. I noticed that you are in Tulsa. You could well run across it in the Wal-Mart $1.00 bin where they get a lot of end-run fabric from the mills. You might also find it in the sale material at Hancocks.

Hancock's in Midwest City did carry nylon tricot at one time. I have a large supply of black, white and beige that I purchased there about 2 years ago.

How much stretch do you want? Are you working with a pattern that specifies that?

Other than that consideration you just need to feel the fabrics available to see what feels good. I go for the softest, smoothest ones. Thickness will depend on what use you have in mind. Support?

There are lingerie elastics and plush elastics, and probably others too. As long as you're shopping for fabric you might as well figure out what notions you want to save a second hunt.

I have a catalog from Sew Sassy, 810 Wellman Ave, Huntsville, Ala 35801, listing cotton knit for lingerie. White @6.15 per yard, preshrunk. or colors cream, aqua or lavender @5.98 per yard, but advised to buy extra as it shrinks. I have not bought anything from this company, but I found it on Internet and I do sew quite a bit of lingerie.
