Never wear a white bra under the tissue while marking the bust point with a black felt tip marker!

Now I have one white bra with a perfectly marked bust point in black!

Gosh, I sure did laugh when I saw what I had done :bg:

I am finding out why everyone is talking about organizing stashes... I am finding I am buying more fabric than I have projects for! I see a beautiful fabric at a great price and think "Wouldn't that be wonderful for a fall suit... or wow what a great price, I am sure I will find a use for that!"

How does one stop?! Can one stop buying such wonderful fabric, oooh, there is another sale, see ya later!! : -)

The only thing that stops me is the fact there is very little nice fabric around. Lots of rayon and polyester and cotton. Not much else.

I do have a buddy who has some nice fabrics I snap up when I can. That's why I grabbed the hemp. The pants will be done today and I have a nice pale blue linen for a top to go with it. :bluesmile

I dress so casual, lots of the really nice stuff is lost on me. I do have an awesome dresden blue silk dupioni I want to make.

Mary; I hadn't thought of hemp before! Thank you for the idea. I also stay away from the polyester and synthetics if I can, although I did find a nice linen rayon blend that I liked the look and feel of.

I will keep my eye out for hemp, I imagine it is very similar to linen.

I stopped only because I had run out of place to store it, and was feeling sorry for my husband having to wade through it. The BIG problem was that about the time I had come to the decision to be good, what happens, but one of our local Joann's went out of business (they'd lost their lease), and so they had these amazing sales (I got some cloth 75% off!), so now I have even more cloth....

Our local ASG chapter had a contest a few months ago and I won because I could name 101 reasons why I bought fabric. Now, until I use up some of my stash which is quite large, I try to stay out of Hancock Fabrics and skip that section at Wal-Mart. The independent stores are in suburbs about 20 or more miles away so I skip them too. However, the other day I found myself yearning to go to Hancock Fabrics and spent some $$$ on some woven sew-in stabilizer that I had been looking for. Wish that I had bought more because now it is discontinued. At least, I had my fix for the day. Happy Stitching!

Mary,

Some of the best fabrics I have purchased have come from eBay. Go to the "Search" category and type in what it is you're looking for. For instance, my search was for "tropical print rayon". Then all the sellers merchandise came up for easy access. There are many quarter pieces (good for small piece work like quilting), which wouldn't be near enough for a garment.

I prefer to buy fabrics in 3 yard increments but since fabric can be made into artwork, nothing goes to waste.eBay.com You can find rayon, wool, cotton, silk, lingerie fabric, vinyl for raincoats, etc. It's like a bit garage sale powered by the Internet. I really enjoy looking for bargains, too.
