I have heard that Coats & Clark thread is not good for your sewing machine. Does anyone know about this.

Just the all purpose coats and clark. A few years ago they sold the company and the new company puts wax on the thread. It is very bad for the machine.

I grew up on the stuff, all of a sudden had to take my machine in every 6 months or so, they kept telling me to stop using it. I thought it was a scam for me to buy the dealers thread, so every 6 months I took it in for a tune up.

I now work in the industry and have seen for myself what it does to the tensions (yuck) I have not used it since.

I buy gutermann when its on sale at joanns.

Ever since switching to Gutermann and Mettler I no longer have skipped stitches, shredding thread, ripped seams and a bunch of other problems. The downside is these are so strong that when you have to rip something out it's a real battle.

Well ! ! There is my answer.. I thought I was going crazy.. I have used C & C threads for 'lo, these many years' and all of a sudden , my machine started acting up .. Sure enough , every time it shreads thread, it is C & C .. Thanks for the heads up.. I guess I will not take a short cut again and use a bobbin on top for a quickie.. It sure did not turn out to be quick.. I only wanted to hem a t-shirt for my GS.. Took more time to fix it than to make one.. No more C & C for me..Thanks! !
