Happy Bastille Day everyone! Storm the Town Hall, Burn a Chateau, Behead an Aristocrat! (sorry, random european moment) We were in France last Bastille Day and the French are NUTS! The tiny village we were in had a firework display worthy of our town - not to mention the serious number of people in the crowd who were letting off rockets in bottles. It's a miracle we weren't all singed! love and kisses, Jan

I remember Octoberfest in Munich, Germany in 1977. Very festive, a bit wild and crazy. Great food, music, dancing. I had a great time and enjoyed the loving German hospitality. You guys rock! |

This year they had the parade down the Champs Elysee ( can't spell that) led by Brits! (Coldstream Guards I think complete with Bearskins) to celebrate the miraculous fact the the French and the English have managed NOT to fight each other for 100 years! My brother , however, still refuses to go to France on the strength of the fact that they are the old enemy.... admittedly. a lot of invasions have come from France from the Romans onwards.. love and kisses, Jan
