I did something terrible. Yesterday I had my machine set up for machine quilting. I couldn't get the top needle tension correct, no matter what I did. I messed around and got all kinds of thread caught in the bobbin area. Now I can't even get the handwheel to move. I put in a frantic call to my dealer last night, she'll probably phone this morning. I have done the stippling before with great results, I don't know what I did wrong this time. I have my Athena blouse all cut out waiting too. MaryW

On your 2044? The thread has probably wrapped itself around the shaft behind the bobbin mechanism. I had that happen to me but I gingerly kept cutting the thread with my tiny embroidery scissors and pulling it out until I got it all, thank goodness! A $65 trip to the Pfaff store for repair would not have made my dh or me happy at all. I've had trouble with my top tension adjustment ever since I had my 2044 serviced a few months ago. Most of the time, the top thread tension is fine but then it will go off on these tangents of stitching the ugliest top thread stitching you've ever seen. I would call and complain but it would still cost me another $65 to have it looked at again. I can usually correct my top tension by adjusting the bobbin tension screw. Go figure on that one. In fact, I need to call the Pfaff store and order another bobbin case for my machine. Patsy Patsy

I just called the Pfaff store and the price on a new bobbin case for my 2044 is $49.00! Yikes!!! I think I'll rethink whether or not I really need an extra one. Patsy Patsy

Yeah, the 2044. All fixed!!! I called the store and they told me to do all the stuff I already did before I called them. The repair people are on holidays until after the 20th. Hubby and I took off the casing, shhh. not supposed to do that and he laid it on it's side. Then we could see the bits of thread. Whew, that was close. He gave it a run for its money after that and it seems ok again. I am a happy camper! What a terrible feeling not to have my machine. MaryW

Glad you're up and running again Mary. It scared the life out of me when I thought I had maybe permanently damaged mine with a big thread jam. Patsy Patsy

That's what scared me too. Up until now I haven't had a moment's problem. I have to do the stippling, so I will try again, but not today.

Mary, do you use the darning foot (the one that has a circle foot) and only put the presser foot halfway down when you are stippling or meandering, etc.? Patsy Patsy
