I have had a difficult time finding patterns that are my size (2). Trying to downsize a size 6 to fit is basically not working as well as I would like; unfortunately, 6 is about as small as the patterns come. So, does anyone know a pattern company that makes a size 4?

Since you are a seamstress I'm sure you know, but be sure that your size 2 is a whole lot smaller than a 6. I've had people who purchase size 0 and 1 clothing that wear a size 6 when you compare their measurments with the size measurments on the envelope. I've known some people though that size 6 would swallow. The pattern sizes are just so much different from the purchased sizes.

You are right, the measurements on the envelope back are different than the store. But, there are some patterns that are really way too big to adjust to fit right, and I was hoping to find at least a size 4 somewhere. At any rate, I do know how to adjust patterns--and that helps. Just have to remember which pattern company is truer to me than the others. Thanks.

I for one am always pleased when a smaller person brings me a Vogue or Butterick. They seem to use less ease than Simplicity and McCalls. All the patterns seem to be getting bigger though.

Yes, I have noticed that the Butterick works better for me. I haven't used a Vogue pattern, though. Are they complicated?

They usually have a lot more pieces and they look a little more like professionally finished products. If you carefully follow the instructions, I don't think they are so bad to make. They tend to lean to the sophisticated and professional. The Butterick is a good fit for youthful bodies...they way the bustline fits and all really fits young women well and their pattern styles (to me) seem to fall someplace between the more relaxed look of the McCalls and the sophisticated look of the Vogue.

Vogue owns Butterick or vice versa, I do not know which one is the parent company.. That is why you find Sandra Betzina patterns in both lines..
