Hi Everybody, I'm ready to buy a new sewing machine. I learned to sew on a 100 year old Singer foot-pedal machine and later used a simple mechanical model. So I'm not too much into fancy computerized gizmos. Instead I'm looking for: - reliability - durability (as little plastic as possible) - wide range of speed from very slow to very fast - easy and straightforward to use - free arm option and top drop-in bobbin would be nice I'm ready spend up to $200 to get something that'll last for a few decades. Any recommendations? Thanks a lot!!! |

Hi Corinna, welcome to Sew Whats New. Are you in the market for new or used? If I had $200 to spend, I think I would look at reconditioned machines from a reputable dealer. Take a look around, are there shops near you? MaryW

Huskystar has a really nice one, speed control, needle threader, needle down feature (i cant live without that anymore) and more, for around $399. It has a lot of features that machines twice that price have..really nice good quality. |
