Just a little funny tidbit to share! I watch our 5 year old GD during the day and we are in the middle of a sewing project. She started sewing earlier this year when I got my new machine. We got her a basic one so she could sew too. We are making bibs that she can give as a shower gift to her mommy on Sunday for her new baby sister that is due Sept. 3rd. I just traced a bib to use for a pattern and we are using stretchy materials, binding them with bias tape and I am either going to put snaps or ties on them. So I put extra wide bias on the edges to give her a little more room to zig zag. I told her to go right down the middle. Well she got off a little bit and called for me to help. She got off toward the inside edge and it actually looked better. So I told her to continue doing it that way and she is chuckling that her way was better! Jolene

When I taught sewing and crafting, I would tell my students that there are no mistakes, only complete re-design of the pattern. I have had to "re-design" many things. lol This took the pressure off them to learn and they seemed to have more fun. I know, sometimes we have to rip a seam and re-do, but alot of times a re-design helps alot. I am glad you encourged your little one to think outside of pattern information. She might just be a great designer later on.

I think that's a valuable reminder to us all when we get frustrated that something is "sewing our way"! Wifetod, your post also reminded me that I need to get cracking on some bibs for my new baby due 9/13. Man - time does fly! emermuffin
