Has anyone been watching "The Simple Life" with Paris Hilton & Nicole Ritchie? One has to wonder if these girls graduated from grade school and if their parents gag while watching the show. Maybe it's all pre-rehearsed script. Or, is the blatant stupidity they display all an act?

The first series of the program shows their tomfoolery in the simplest jobs and when they're handed a paycheck, Paris asks, "What's this?". "A paycheck", the gal says (looking at Ms. Hilton like she's some pampered dope).
If that weren't pathetic enough, Paristhen asks, "What do I do with it?"

At about that point I was wondering what kind of morals and work ethics (if any) these girls will ever have. Riding on daddy's checkbook is all fine and dandy but there's only so much shopping and jetsetting a persona can do without feeling rootless and bored. They should do some community work. They have plenty of imagination, money and celebrity status to make a difference in a community.

I still hold out hope for Paris but I wonder Nicole's influence. Thankfully, she's someone else's thankfully but still I wonder how much of this show is a sham, with every adventure being staged. Things have taken a turn for the worse though in terms of likeability for our road warrior billionairesses. They'd never make it in the "real world"! Getting up at 5am to feed animals, get the children feed and to school, and then spend 8 hours on a job. That, I'd like to see. They are not to be emulated.

I caught part of one show, and turned it in a hurry. I can't stand those girls. They won't ever need a work ethic...they are far too wealthy. Apparently nobody thought they'd ever need to do something useful.

BTW - the show I caught was when they were trying to learn to quilt -

I've never seen the show -- it doesn't interest me. But I'd like to point out that they are getting paid to make it.
It's really too bad they were not raised to realize that with all that money they can live on the family loot and dedicate their lives to helping others. Give time, not just money. To me that would be a rewarding life.
