Yeah !! today was the start of "tax free" week....no tax is charged on clothes and (most) school supplies....it's a 9 day thing that happens (almost) every year here.... Luckily the stores also use this time to put stuff on sale...so I went on a spree today and bought clothes. (I'd buy school supplies, but my ferrets refuse to ride the bus and go to school ) I think this is the only state I've lived in where that happens.... Chrys

Texas and Oklahoma both have tax free days in August before school starts. However, those are thoe days I don't venture out to shop lest I get run over by a herd of wild kids and their mothers. Patsy Patsy

Then do what I do what I do and go late at night to Wal-Mart when the kids aren't there. Ticia |

The Wal-Mart near me is definitely not the place you want to go late at night by yourself! Patsy Patsy

We have tax free weeks for clothing and shoes up to $100 a couple times a year. Fabric counts if you tell them you are going to make clothing. The ladies at the quilting shops say it is funny how many people plan on making dresses out of fat quarters that week. Dorothy |

Wow, I wonder if I could do that in Texas......... It'd be great to have an excuse to buy fabric and not have to pay taxes. Ticia |

I don't think Texas or Oklahoma will let you get buy with that Ticia. I think it has to be school clothing or supplies. Oh, by the way, I went to Wal-Mart today, however, dh dropped me off at the door and when I was standing at the door on the way out, I call him on my cell and he picked me up right at the door again. I spent $12.15. They have the school supply lists out in there and you would have thought school starts tomorrow. Geeessshhhh!!! Patsy Patsy

School starts here on Aug. 30. Mine have informed me they don't need any new clothes I do too much clearance shopping & they can't close there dressers. They all need shoes & 1 needs a backpack. I have informed the boys they need new socks I do the laundry & throw away at least 1 holey one every time. DS (17)needs new boxers but doesn't want to part with the ones that the elastic is frayed around the top so I might just try to serge around the top of all the ones falling apart. At least that will give me an excuse to sew. I have found that the boys don't wear what I make much & DD has tooo many clothes that are hand me downs from her sisters that she loves. So I guess I will have to start sewing for myself.
