Whatever happened to the summer? The kids have been to camps and rested and all the sudden we are on the down track to school? My kids start summer band tomorrow! The drumline (DS), color guard, and drum majors ( his Twin DD) start tomorrow and all next week. Then they have Mon and Tues off for orientation and start the 11th of Aug! I don't remember school ever starting on a Wed before (always a Thurs) and before the 14th of Aug, but that is only 3 days early...just seems sooooo fast!!! I'm still waiting for the color guard tunic and pants fabric to come in (18 guard members). The material for the 60 flags should be here today! Looks like I need to get to work in a hurry. I'll still have the Drum major dress and her couterpart's vest (no prob) to make after that!

School starts here the 11th also. When I was a kid it was always after Labor Day.

My kids are looking forward to it more than I am. I work in the lunchroom and have to go back with them. No really, I'm kind of looking forward to it too. I have alot of fun working there.
Too bad it'll be so hot here when school starts. I feel sorry for the kids who have to ride the buses with no air conditioning.

Good luck getting your sewing done.:bluesmile

He is bored now, I would love to have one month in the summer and one month in the winter.

I remember as a kid we always went back the Wednesday after Labor Day, even if LD was 9/6. I think changing the breaks to a month in the summer and a month in the winter would be great. I think the only reason why kids never went to school in the summer is because many moons ago they always had to stay home to help plant, weed and harvest.

Around here many kids are still helping out on the farm in August and go back after Labor Day. I always loved having them home for long relaxing summer days and was always so glad (so very, very glad) to see them go back to school.
