I am getting married and have searched the internet and pattern stores for a pattern that I have in mind. My fiance wants an "authentic Old Western" wedding. We have two places close by to us that have towns built like in the Wyat Earpe days. One is actually called "Tombstone." We are both in our mid-40's.

Anyway, finding his pattern is not a problem. He wants a frock coat and vest, with the authentic western tie, gunbelt, etc. His one request of me is that I wear a "Light Blue" authentic western style dress. Today, I researched the library and I think the time period would be approximately 1903 for the Old West Days. The problem that I am running into is that I am very full figured between size 22 -30 depending on measurements of pattern. I have a style in mind that I think would compliment my body, but have been unable to find a pattern. My arms are big at the top and very small at the bottom. I have large hips, thighs, stomach and small legs. I am 5ft 3".

Here goes the description:

Bodice has high lace collar with a sweetheart keyhole, either leg of mutton sleeves or pigot sleeves that slim down at the wrist and dropped V waist. The body part, I want to be a six or seven gore panel with either tiers of lace or fringe tiers that are cut slanting from the botton up so that my western boots will show. I will have a western hat with the veil and blusher.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mollie

The dress you want sounds pretty. There's a web site out there that is called the Costumer's Manifesto. It has links to every fabric and pattern site for costume sewing there is to make and so much more. Are you making this yourself? Let me know if you find it. (my son is at Ft. Hood, is that near you?). :USA:
