I ask about how to do the over edge stich on fleece blankets. Now my question is what kind of thread do I use? I have noticed the blankets you buy are stiched with a thicker thread. What is it and will it work on my Singer 5050? Also what needle do I use with it? Thanks! |

It is probably wooly nylon thread. You would want a large-eyed ball point or stretch needle. I haven't used this thread on my sewing machine before, but I've heard/read that you should wind your bobbin gently by hand to avoid stretching the thread. I know that others here have more experience with this than I, and I am sure they will help you out. Take care,

Thank you Donna! Can I get this at Jo-Anns or other craft stores? Will it be called woly nylon on te spool? I am sorry to be souch a pain. But I just started sewin in March of this year. I am pretty much teaching myself. Mom can not see well enough to help out. Plus it has been years since she used her sewing machine. You all are kind of like my sewing angels to me! Thanks again for all your help. |

You should be able to get it at Jo-Ann's or Hancocks. It is usually on a cone spool with/near the serger thread, as it is most often used on sergers. It should have 'wooly' on it, but you can ask...somebody in the store should know(hopefully). Good luck! Take care,
