Help! I need to find the least scented or odorless laundry detergent. I have terrible allergies.

I use All Free....also Downey Free and Bounce Free...I'm allergic to EVERYTHING and I can use these products with no ill effects.
(I'm allergic to fragrances, dye, anything that ISN'T cotton, etc..)

Theres a web site... www.onlineallergyrelief.com that sells detergent, soap, ac filters, etc...they're GREAT about phone calls and they get your order sent out promptly.

All, Downey and Bounce can all be bought at most grocery stores.
(I get mine at Publix, Winn Dixie, Wally World and the commissary(we're retired AF)....

Always look for the FREE on the front...fragrance FREE is what you want, not 'unscented'...unscented just means it IS scented and also has a 'masking fragrance' to cover it up.

I wonder if the FREE softners also lack the skin irritation agent of the others. I can't use fabric softners because of the aroma and they irritate me.

raineshower - All Free & Clear is not an unusual brand, it is All (as in the stuff that's been around forever), the Free & Clear variety. Does that make sense? I was confused the first time someone recommended it to me on a diaper forum.

I started using All Free & Clear for my cloth diapers, now use it for all laundry. I use only a couple tablespoons, way less than how much they recommend, and it cleans my laundry just fine. Plus, saves money in detergent! Unless you have something really soiled I don't think you need to use near the amount of soap / detergent that is recommended.

No one in our family has allergies, so I don't have any other tips. But All Free & Clear seems to work great.

My dh and ds have awful allergies and we are doing great with Sun and Earth. It isn't widely available, but can be directly mail ordered from www.sunandearth.com. They also have samples available. It is sold in some supermarkets and in stores such as Whole Foods Market.

It has a lemon scent, which has not caused any problems, and I prefer it to completely unscented detergents that leave laundry smelling not quite clean. Another benefit is it doesn't contain "optical brighteners" which are in everything else I've ever seen and are like a mild bleach. If you pretreat with them you will leave light spots, and they generally promote fading.

I use a private brand that is mailed to me monthly. Concentrated, I just add water. I am very pleased with the results, especially since I have 15 cats and 4 dogs.

I use Vinegar in the rinse cycle. It takes out all the detergent residue.

I have allergies, too, and I use the Arm & Hammer laundry detergents. They're available in powdered and liquid.

I think I'm allergic to the chlorine in the water. I've used every detergent free of everything and I've washed w/o detergent and I still smell something chemical.
I think I'm going thru a hypersensitivity to chemicals in general which includes chlorine.
Sigh...
