Hi i am new to this site and so far i love it. I love sewing especially for kids and hated a fews years back when i had to give it up thanks to a dead beat dad and go out in the world and earn a living for me and my four kids! Well enough of the sad story loool i am sure we all are quiet bored now. Anyway i am now back at the machine and with 3 beautiful grandkids to sew for! I live with my daughter and her dd and i throw nothing away! Old habits are hard to get rid of! lol I was given this piece of fleece a while back and came up with the idea to make a jacket for my youngest granddaughter. does anyone knos where i can find a down loadable free pattern? I am looking for something simple and maybe some type of felt embellishment design to put on it? Also i am looking for any type of crafts or sewing article the done using strawberry patterns or designs? I live in a strawberry farming community and would love to offer something to sale in next years festival craft area. well i think i have said enough and if you all will have have me i am gald to be here thanks abear Holley

Howdy Abear!!!! Glad to read a newcomer to the site. What size do your grandkids wear? I have some pattern for kids, some have been used, but if they are the right sizes for you I'll donate them to you. I need to keep clearing things out and these are next to go on the list. Just let me know and we can snail mail!!!! |

Hi Abear, and welcome to Sew Whats New. If you make up a strawberry applique, it can be put on loads of things. Dishtowels, towels, face cloths, clothes, hats, anything. MaryW

Hi Holley: Welcome to this forum. I think you will find it so much fun and informative like all of us do! I liked the downloadable pattern that the other person suggested! Looks like a good one. I have another suggestion, too. I shop all the time at local thrift shops. I have found brand new, sometimes totally unused patterns there for anywhere from 25 cents to about 50 cents! Some of them were patterns that were issued within the past year as well. This is great for kids patterns because many of them are classics and don't go out of style. Check to see if you have a Goodwill or Salvation Army and start there to see what you can find. The only thing you have to watch is if the pattern has been cut out and maybe a piece or the instruction sheet is missing but I have yet to buy one that was missing anything (just to be sure - I usually try to aim for the ones that have not been cut out yet and always check to make sure the instructions are there). I think not long ago I saw a pattern for a strawberry winter hat made from fleece and think it was from Butterick. If I find out what the number is, I will let you know. Joyce |
