"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, BUT rather to skid in broadside, throughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "WOW!! What a ride!!"

I agree totally!!! Life is an adventure, treat it as such and you will have more fun. Not only do i intend to use it all up but i will add water and shake it like you do your shampoo bottle. I intend to get every drop.

Thanks for this quote, it brightened my day.

Thanks Karen,I've just got back from great Uncle Fred's funeral and I shall send this quote on to his daughter- he was 92 and partied to the end! He was very crumbly - partially deaf, lame, blind, could sink a pint of beer faster then anyone else I have seen and liked heavy metal music. So at his wake we played some of his favourite tracks. Eric Clapton, Eddie van Haylen, Queen. It seems inappropriate to tell him to rest in peace- more like " party on, Dude!"

It's only at times like these that you find out some things- he was a POW in Japan for 3 1/2 years and helped buid the Burma railway. He weighed 6 stone when the war ended - at 6 ft 2 you can see he looked thin. When told they didn't feed you much the japs his comment was " well, they didn't have much themselves either" a gentleman to the end.

I will never forget those pictures I saw back then of General Wainwright and others ( Burma Road builders who were captured) .. General Wainwright was a very slight man anyway , but he looked like his waist was maybe 15 or 18 inches when he was released.. A Charlottean was one of their officers so that got a lot of publicity around these parts..

When I skid in sideways I want a martini in one hand and a basket of pears in the other. (Pears are my favorite fruit. :nah: )

Great quote.

My favorite is: "Wrinkled is not what I wanted to be when I grew up."

Yesterday at the young age of 61 I had my first lesson at the local High School, it took 10 minutes of hard walking in the mile long corridors to find Gym B, after that ,an hour and a half of dancing wildly with a beutifull hip belt full of jingly coins that some one lend me, I have to say this morning the muscles from my pinky (keep it soft and supple ) to my big toe( pointed gracefully) hurts, but I had the best time !!!, I felt like a dancing queen, thank God we had no mirors, going back next Wednesday.

Oh, that sounds like so much fun Olga. I seriously doubt I would have the nerve to get up there and jiggle. Good for you. I think I would be giggling along with the jiggling.

Hi! Why not make your own belt? Walmart has coin trim by the yard, OR you could use old bead necklaces, from necklaces you no longer use, and string as fringe.

Here's a link to a good site on costumes and what to wear, how to cover flaws, etc.

More links on Belly Dancing costumes (http://www.joyofbellydancing.com/costuming.htm)

Tassel belt (http://www.farfesha.com/pages/tassel_making.html)

Have fun!

Hi Olga

I hope you're feeling better soon. I have bad reactions to meds most of the time, so I know how you feel. Its a real battle when stuff that 's supposed to make you better, makes you sick instead.

Take care of yourself,

hugs

But the one that is getting the most attention is a saying on my son's fav. t-shirt. It says:

If your nose runs,
And your feet smell,
Then you were made UPSIDE DOWN!!

He gets so many comments on it.

Maggi :Canada:
Have a great day! :)
