How many of you go to a whooly nylon in the loopers for knits? I used it when I did a sweatshirt fleece, then went to the regular thread, now I am starting a jersey knit top and am setting up the serger again, and in fact, have it set and then remembered about whooly nylon. What are the times to use the whooly nylon instead of regular thread?

I have only used it a few times, but my understanding is to use it when you want to work with stretchy fabrics or when you want lots of coverage. For example, edging napkins, etc.

I use it when I make sleepers for the grandbabies, edging receiving blankets, and any place where I don't want a scratching edge.

It can be used on bridal veils or as a special effect on chiffon.

Use the fishing line in a rolled serged hem. You feed it through the foot and roll the hem over it. It can be used in chiffon, in bridal veils, in anything where you want the hem to have body and stand out. Different weights of fishing line can be used. It can also be used when doing a lettuce hem. Where you stretch the edges to get a rippled edge. About the kite string. Your button hole foot may have a hook on the back. If you do, you can hook your kite string in the back of the foot in a loop so that the ends are toward you. Then you simply make your button hole over the string. When the button hole is finished, release the loop at the back of the buttonhole and pull the sting toward you tightening the string. This is a strong reinforced button hole that is good in heavy fabrics or button holes under stress.
