Last spring, I bought several spools of Sulky rayon thread, not realizing until recently that they're a very lightweight embroidery thread instead of something I can use to sew garments. Whoops! I'm currently using 100% cotton thread to baste, but do you suppose I could use the rayon stuff for basting as well - or will it leave a mark?

It's easy enough to test some out on scrap fabric. Use a white fabric so any color releasing from the thread will show. Put it in, then rip it out. If it comes out easily and leaves no mark you have your answer.

If you are worried about any future fabrics that might be delicate or expensive you can always re-test. It only takes a minute.
