I'd like to make some ribbon jeans like the ones sold on ebay. I'd bid, but I can't really afford them here. See the link below:

My questions - what's the best way to attach the ribbons? Would you sew the ribbons to seam binding then attach to the jeans?

It looks like she sewed them straight to the hemline in the picture. Me personally, I think I would sew it to a strip of cloth and then sew it to the jeans, just to make sure you got it sewn together right.

In her description, she says that they have binding over them to prevent fraying. I don't know if she sewed it to the binding first (which is what I'd do) or if she somehow encased them after.

You know, now that I think about it more, she might have encased the ends of the ribbon in seam binding to help prevent fraying. It's a good idea really.

Dorothy, She said that is what she did.. That scallop stitch looks exactly line one of the stitches on my Janome.. Those are really cute..
