I HATE fall time allergies!!!! :bang: All I have been doing is sneezing my head off!!!!! I never had these crazy things until I had my daughter 23 years ago.
I have been going through allergy meds like crazy, but my system just keeps building up against them!!!!! My eyes itch, my nose is so sore!!!!! my VOICE is almost gone!!!!!!! The doctor is scratching his head :monkey: , ( the monkey kind of looks like him). Then I turn out to be one of those people that I have to be VERY VERY careful of any meds I take, as I will most likely have a reaction to it! Some of them have even landed me in the Emergency Room with nasty reactions.

Am I the only one who is sufering with allergies out here???????

You are not the only one. This year has been exceptionally bad for me. Not sure why. I have been sneezing my eyeballs out  . I have used that phrase ever since a teacher in highschool said it was impossible to sneeze with your eyes open, because the force of the sneeze would blow your eyeballs out. I was such crazy teenager I actully remember trying to sneeze with my eyes open. I never believed a thing I was told.
As for the allergies, my kids often have to take multiple allergy meds at once. Has your doctor tried that? The most common combination is Zyrtec and Flonase. Together they get my kids through the rough part of the seasons. The thing about Zyrtec is that you have to build up a supply of it in your body before it will do any good. I think my oldest was on it for a few weeks before we saw any improvement. Now they take the Zyrtec year round. I love it. No more sneezy, itchy eyed kids.

My sinuses are killing me.
When I was a kid I got hay fever and was allergic to almost everything -- including my own hair which, when I was in my teens, was worn long and in your face if you were at all cool and I was very cool.
But they shot me full of everything I was allergic too and, while it was very unpleasant for the two years they were doing it, it worked. I suspect it was some kind of experimental treatment and probably killed more people than it cured so they don't do it any longer.

I've been on allergy meds since I was a year old.....they mostly DON'T work for me anymore....I CAN take Benadryl (only at night 'cause it makes me sleepy)...I was taking Zyrtec, but it quit working after only 2 mnths...Claritin works for me, but only for about 8 hrs...and you're not supposed to take more than one a day..
I use Nasalide (it's a nasal steroid) and crolom (eye drops). I've learned to avoid things that rile my allergies. (scented things, animals, smoke. grass, trees, flowers and I try and keep my house dusted)...::heavy sigh:: it's usually a process of elimination..

My sisters allergies are really giving her a run for the money this year. They put her on a new allergy med. ( can't think of the name, but has been advertized on TV), within 24 hours of taking it she was breaking out in hives!!!!!!! Turns out she allergic to the allery meds  , she has had it just as bad as me this fall.

When I was little, my older sister wrote my name on a kleenex box, taped a piece of string to it, and hung it around my neck - because that way, I'd always have a tissue handy. Too bad she wasn't doing it to be nice LOL! She also used to count out loud how many times in a row I'd sneeze...my record was 21. Come to think of it, maybe it was her I was allergic to...! :re:

And they still do that, Dorothy...I got allergy shots from about age 12 to 18, and have been on just about every prescription pill and nasal spray they made. I never thought it did me much good, especially the shots. What really did help was moving to another climate (used to live in Minnesota). I've been in Colorado almost 6 years now, and on my worst day take just a sudafed - and that's only when the boss's yellow lab hangs around my desk too much. I consider myself one of the very lucky ones! Course if I go where there's a cat, no medication in the world will help...

My sympathies are with all of you!!!
