:nc: Well, I started to hem a pair of jeans, I got through about 10-15 stitches (straight foot), then let go of the pedal to reposition my fabric, and when I tried to get going again my needle was stuck.. I snipped off my fabric and on the side where i could see my stitch, it looked fine. But then when I flipped it over the was a bunch of untight loops and broken thread!!
Also where my bobin thread comes up under my presser foot I found a bunch of stray broken thread!! What did I do wrong!

In desperate need of help,
Janaya

Hi Janaya. It sounds like your bobbin case and the area around it needs a good cleaning. Take a pair of tweezers and remove any and all threat bits that are in there. If necessary, remove the thread plate and clean out all the excess fibers that may be lurking down there.

Then, take a scrap piece of your denim and run a line of stitching thru it. Play around with the tension until it looks even on both sides. You may very well need a denim needle too. Hemming denim is a little difficult sometimes.

Hi Jayana
Thats happened to me a million times!MaryW is totally right youd be surprised at how much a good clean helps it.Whenever thats happened to me its always something to do with the bobbin, maybe it did wind round tight enough or something??
Hope youve sorted it now

Hi Jayana,

I've been having an awful time getting my new Singer to run properly. The culprit turns out to be the bobbin didn't fill tightly enough. I haven't sewn with a Singer for 30 years, so I wasn't familiar with the threading system The above advice is all good. Hope you're back stitching soon. Take care.

Two more things: Check to make sure your thread is seated in the take up lever and the top tension disk; also, be sure that your bobbin is inserted in the bobbin case properly and that thre bobbin thread is winding off the bobbin in the proper direction. Some bobbins wind off clockwise and some counterclockwise. These are just a couple of small problems that can cause even the most experienced sewists trouble if you don't pay close attention when threading the machine and bobbin.
