does anyone know how to make a pattern for a spherical object? sewing together two circles makes a more flat, disklike shape, but i need to make a nucleus for a cell project i'm making. i'm thinking a shape like the outer layer of a baseball might work, does anyone know where i might be able to find a downloadable pattern for that shape? |

I love the idea of a sewn cell! Do you make a kind of organza sack for teh cell membrane? What are you using for choroplasts etc? We did a fab "make your own cell moment" in science last year with some jelly poured into a plastc bag (set in a margarine tub for plant cells) to which you added liquorice laces (endoplasmic recticulum) lime sweets (chloroplasts) a gobstopper for the nucleus and various other sweets for mitochondria etc. It was great! The kids ate them later!
love and kisses, Jan
