I am just getting started with my small sewing business. I have been sewing for years for myself and a few others with my own body form (Betty), but she is very petite. All my new clients have been much bigger than Betty. I need to know what brand is the best for multiple clients of varying shapes. What do you all use for your clients? I don't mind buying a few in different sizes, I just want quality ones that will be worth the money and fit more than one or two people (like Betty). Any suggestions? Thanks ladies!

Thank you! I have looked at all of the different companies (including the ones you sent) and I think I am going to use Uniquely You to begin with. I do a lot of costuming and these work real well with corsets and such. Plus you can push pins in them when making patterns. I do like the customizing of the one company and saw that you I can just use those pieces on whatever brand I get. I think between the two I will have a great set up for just about any size. Thank you!

Most of us who do custom dressmaking and the like don't use any dress form at all, although we usually make a muslin fitting garment, especially if we've never made a particular pattern for a particular client before. On the other hand, if you are doing a lot of draping, a form is super. And I know of at least one dressmaker who has her client's finished gown (or whatever garment) on a form at the pick up time. She says it really makes a good impression. |

Ooh, that is a good idea having it on the form instead of the hanger. They can really get a good look at all the parts. And yes, I do a lot of costuming from all different era's. I just find it easier to get an idea of what is going on when I put it on Betty. Plus, when you make something custom ( a swimsuit I am finishing up for instance ) I think it helps so I can work out the kinks before the person shows up. But it helps me to know that not a lot of others use them! Thanks! Proverbs 31:10-31
