pairings made Sept. 28
mail-by October 16, 2004

Things to Scavenge For:
1. An item that is/has your partner’s favorite color
2. something that YOUR area (sender’s) is famous/known for
3. fat quarter using a theme your partner loves.
4. correlate another hobby with quilting – ex as postcardigirl, I would LOVE a postcard with a quilt theme, or fabric with postcards on it
5. A 12 ½” Quilt Block your partner might make for herself.
6. Pamper your partner with some special lotions/ shower gels/candles –
this one is flexible – find out what your partner likes/dislikes and
pamper her accordingly!
7. Make your partner feel special with something with her name on it.
8. What makes your partner unique? Find out and send something
relating to that quality!
9. a magazine she would buy for herself....quilty or not!
10. Give her something to wear... jewelry (costume), t-shirt, socks, earrings....

This is a swap where you really need to get to know your partner and tailor the package to her and her interests – use lots of questions to help give you ideas and I encourage you to email each other frequently!

RULES:
Same rules as always here – you cannot participate if you are new to the site and/or have not participated successfully in past swaps (fq, scavenger or other swap). I will need you to email me (<email address removed for privacy>) your username, real name, mailing address & telephone number (will not be shared, only for emergencies). 10 items this time around, try to keep your spending at about the $15 (USD) mark (PLUS postage costs). By the time your box is ready to mail, there should be 10 individual items in the box.

Before committing to this swap, please carefully consider if you will be able to fulfill the swap. If you do need to drop out of the swap or will be late, please contact me immediately. If you do not fulfill your obligation to this swap after committing, you will not be permitted to join future swaps of this type.

Remember, should you have any questions/concerns, please let me know at any time. Once pairings are made, please please PLEASE be in contact with your swap partner frequently (at least once a week) throughout the swap. We have found that those who have not kept in touch are the ones that end up with problems at the end of the swap.

Hi sheri,
Iwould love to join this swap. I was involved in a "one time only" swap that lasted over three years. We had women from all over the US and Canada involved in these swaps. I made many online friends. The only reason I removed myself from the swaps was because work kept getting in the way. I'm ready to play again!!!

Shari,
The swap sounds like grand fun. I'm just wondering though if new posters or those who haven't participated before aren't allowed to join in, how does ever get to be a paticipant? Enjoy the day.

...working on updating the swap list!

Ann (and others) - in order for you to be able to participate in the Scavenger Hunts, because of the high cost, it is required that you complete at least one other swap on the forum - most likely a fat quarter swap. Once that is successfully completed, you are free to join the scavenger hunts!

I thought it was just me. I tried and tried to stay in the $15 and it just wasn't so. I think your partner wouldn't have a problem with that, since she's having the same issue...

Shirley/Carman - if you're referring to number 2, the fq - a theme your partner loves - for example, a fq of a fabric with postcards on it would work for me. If your partner loves Bears or Trains or Monkeys - choose a fq accordingly. Hope that helps - if not, let me know!

15 dollars is impossible :nervous: a magazine alone is 10 bucks here lol. i think Shirley came up with a great idea of swapping ones we may have already at home. good thing i don't have to worry about the niece and nephew too much this week (my brother is in town) so i can sew away.

When I first saw this swap I couldn't imagine doing it for $15 or less. I am just trying to find "the right stuff" and not worrying too much about cost. I don't mind pampering my swap buddy, she deserves it!

Pronunciation: 'bich-in, Verb (trans.)

1. Complaining of or about.
2. Slang Cool; awesome.
3. Adj. The package my swap mate sent me!

I opened my package yesterday. What an amazing and clever assortment of items! Not only did my swap mate get some great informationabout me from our emails but she apparently sleuthed my posts as well. Anyone who gets Jessica in a future swap is soooooo lucky.

I really enjoyed this swap although it was a challenge for me to get my items put together and mailed out in time (and $15 - yeah right!). In fact I mailed today - talk about last minute! :-)

Postcardgirl, yours should be arriving anyday in the mail. I told you this already, but I have rubber duckys on the brain since doing this swap, since that is one of your favorites. I never noticed them much before, but now I see them all the time! I was in Walmart today and I saw rubber ducky candles and cake decorating things and thought, I just have to get these. Then I came back to earth and realized that the scavenger hunt box has already been mailed. I was in JoAnn's yesterday and out of the corner of my eye I saw some fabric, and for a brief second, I saw ducks on them. I immediately zoned in and went straight for it, but it was just yellow blobs on a bright purple background when I got closer. I HAVE DUCKS ON THE BRAIN!!!
I have had a great time with my first scavenger hunt. Hope you like it!

I think I am last but not least. Carman your package arrived this morning.
It was all nicely wrapped inside a christmas pull cord bag. Neat idea.
There was:
Six cranberry scented candles, one of my favourites
Wooden broach, "I love quilting" on it
Cow ornament, we live on a farm
Pen with my name
Carman did you make this? Cute frog with a spool of metallic thread in his mouth.
Wooden pen from West Edmonton Mall.
Anti stress bath salts, beads and bubble bath. I think I will take a bath tonight and enjoy.
Stain glass iris pattern
Patchwork quilting magazine
Two pages of self adhesive address stickers. Cool idea.
Fabric with music notes on it
Block in yellow and red star, with star at each corner, love this pattern. Carman what's is called , couldn't find it in my book.

Greetings all,
I too rec'd my package last week from Noni Moo but didn't have time to tell of my treasures;
First off was a neat and beautiful wheeled tote to haul my stuff around in. My son wanted to claim this one!!! 4 lovely purple fq's, a paperback book (hopefully time soon for that), some rocks, which were really candles( how unique!!!), an adorable pin with a stamp on it saying "love" to wear, some pretty garden/flowery fabric, a quilting marking pencil, a bunny pattern with some batting, mini candy bars to savor slowly and a pattern for a Christmas wallhanging with my name on it.
It's amazing how well we can get to know someone in such a short time and little conversations. It was alot of fun, looking forward to the next one.
Blessings to all,
Carol
