Vogue would be your "high-end" or "coture" fashions, but all the pattern companies have a section, not as big a Vogue, for this. A lot depends on your choice of fabric and how experienced a seamstress you are. The better the quality of fabric=higher the price you pay for it=the better your skills=the way the outfit will turn out. As for teens, all of the pattern companies have easy skill patterns that will help them step-by-step. They pretty much stick to "EASY, EASY" stuff that would take a experienced seamstress just minutes to put together. Are you planning on teaching or helping some teens? |

I like the way that Butterick patterns fit teens. Their sizing is a little truer to the pattern measurments. In my personal opinion, they lean just a bit toward the Vogue patterns in design (at least I think they have a larger quantity of chic clothing) than Simplicity or McCalls.

Maybe its because the same company owns Vogue and Butterick.. Thats why you find Sandra Betzina patterns by Vogue and Butterick.. A line I learned about in sewing guild meetings that are pretty high fashion and designer styling is Diane Erickson.. I remember a program (trunk showing) a guest had and presented a whole line of clothes from only 2 of her patterns.. The changes in fabric, embellishments, and things like stenciling on fabric, etc.. made so much difference in the looks of the wardrobe.. One dress she made, she stencilled steaming cups of coffee on it and the buttons were made from polymer clay and looked like coffee beans..Really cool stuff.. Sew With Love
