When I left off sewing last night, my seams were fine--tight and straight. I came back tonight and there are little loopies every 1/2 inch or so on the underside of the fabric. The top is fine.

My question, is this a) the bobbin b) the tension c) the stitch length or some combination??? No one has touched it today, not even me till tonight. I was on a roll, but things are looking pretty junky.

Thanks in advance!!!

What kind of fabric is it? If a stretch, then it's a tension problem. What kind of thread? If poly, then the thread could have gotten stretched when wound on the bobbin too fast (ask me how I know:-)

Or else a gremlin!!!!

Don't ya love these kinds of mysteries? NOT!

Could be just a piece of thread or lint stuck in the bobbin case, I'd give that a thorough check and cleaning for starters. Then put in a new needle. I assume you're stitching the same fabric, same layers, same thread as last night?

When I was stitching with the same fabric it was fine, but then I changed to a poly blend--I think (don't ask it is a story with TOO many turns to repeat) anyway. I ran into other problems with that project, so I switched to a different one entirely. When I really noticed the problem, I was stitching around some bias tape.

Will try cleaning out the bobbin tomorrow. The thread is a poly. The bobbin is relatively new--last night. Needle is brand new b/c I broke the "old" one into thirds after changing the bobbin. Talk about tangled up.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Make sure your needle is in all the way and (in most machines) the flat portion is in the back....if you aren't sure if yours goes to the back, check you manual. Sometimes they go to the left side.
