Please post here if you can help, thanks. I have a questions, what is the best way to repair button holes that have come unravaled in washing. By hand sewing or zig zag? Any help, would be appreciated. MaryW

That probably depends on how badly the buttonhole is damaged. If it is just a portion where the buttonhole threads have come unsewn, I'd probably try either to use my machine buttonholer or I would try to satin stitch (close zig zag) it. I'm not much of a hand seamstress. If the material itself is damaged because the buttonhole came out and the material has unraveled, I'd probably resort to doing it by hand. You might also need to reinforce the buttonhole (maybe from inside) with a little bit of interfacing if the hole is damaged.

I just had to do this myself. I put a piece of heavyweight iron-on interfacing on the back side and made a new buttonhole on the machine.
