Sewhappie, Thanks for the boost! I had another picture and I was smiling *too* much!!! DH took pictures and he must have said something funny. Anyway, sorry about the pop-ups and password business. When I get our homestead website back in orbit, I'll post them there. I know it doesn't look like much in the photo (DS gave it an "Amish" review and DH said I made *another* school teacher dress) and quantity-wise there wasn't much competition, but here's from the card I had attached: Woven Pullover Sleeveless Dress and Unlined Shirt Jacket (with knit neckline and embroidery detail): Navy/off-white 80% cotton 20% linen Fabric source – Fabric Mart.com Care - Machine wash cold, dry flat, iron cotton setting Maggi yarn 52% cotton 48% linen Yarn source – One Fine Yarn.com Occasion – to church and work spring/fall Cost - $14.50 Dress: McCalls 8108 Modified by adding back seam Altered armscye and dart Unlined Shirt Jacket: Simplicity 5858 Modified for ¾ length sleeves and scoop front neckline Altered dart and back seam The shirt jacket has Hong-Kong seam finishes and little leaves embroidered along the bottom. I even wrapped the armhole to sleeve seam (maybe this has a name?). I just serged the seams on the dress. I think I might change the buttons to navy. It all fits well, but I still like a fitted dress pattern with zipper better. I don't know why I have to alter my back seam on every pattern, it's either in my shoulders or low back that is the problem. Or, maybe it's my big behind!!! Happy sewing!!! Going to work on my first Burda mag pattern - dusty blue tencel skirt, gored with flared bottom. Oh, but there's the supper dishes...I think I'll sew! |

Thanks Jessica, Let's see how this one works: vest and skirt (http://photobucket.com/albums/v469/mamagoose/?action=view¤t=MVC-048F.jpg) I just finished this outfit and wore it to work today. Please never mind the bare feet LOL! The plaids really are straight, just those buttons want to do their own thing. They are perfectly placed, just plenty of room to shift. The skirt is 55% linen and the vest is a poly ribbed fabric with a suede feel. I thought the vest with one button would be best since I've got all those buttons on the skirt. It's supposed to gap at the bottom. The buttons are an oxidized southwest silver and I lined the vest with black calico. Vest is S5594 vest pattern (http://simplicity.com/index.cfm?page=search.cfm&numMatch=2&design_id=9236&design=5594&thumbnail_image=5594t.jpg&ldesc=Misses%20Tops%20and%20Vests&size_range=6%20to%2020&CFID=1941451&CFTOKEN=59013443) and it has some other fun options. Mary, how young is too young??? Sewhappie, I *tried* to smile in this one, how'd I do??? I'd better get out and tend to my garden and critters, bye for now! |

OK, I didn't take time to look at the pictures when I first read this thead, but just now checked them out. Is it just me, or does the screen name 'Mamagoose' bring up the visual of a pudgy, middle-age-to-older lady with gray hair; a Mrs. Claus type? WOW, how off was that one, ! Fess up, Mamagoose; that marine is your brother, isn't he . Nice work too! |

How sweet HHH. I am a homesteader at heart and we have only two younguns (not a mother goose fairytale). The deal is nobody else likes mama's goose, especially that Marine when he was a youngster. The epitome of "boy". He would get chased by mama's goose and next thing I know he would have it by the neck and dragging it into the house to show me how tough he was. The goose along with snakes, roosters, possum, etc. And the gray hairs and wrinkles, they just don't show up in the photos. Have a great day! Forgot to mention, he goes by "Goose" |
