I am making the prarie dress from Folkwear (http://folkwear.com/201.html) for my Halloween costume. Has anyone made this pattern? I also need a pattern for a bonnet to go with it. I have no idea what a 19th Century bonnet really looks like, or where I could find a good pattern for one. Reccommendations, anyone? (and yes, I looked at PatternReview.com as well). see the mundane life of a housewife.

Try taking a look at Amazon Dry Goods Pattern Catalog. They do not have an online version, but I believe they will have a suitable bonnet pattern for you. Their URL is: http://www.amazondrygoods.com/ However, time may be an issue since Halloween is not that far away. Regards, Jenn |

McCall's M9423 & M3669 both have sunbonnet patterns. Hancock's is having a 99 cents pattern sale tomorrow. I can't remember if it's McCall's or Simplicity on sale. Try looking in the costume sections. I found an old sunbonnet that belonged to my husband's grandmother who was born in 1896. It was brittle and falling apart so I made a pattern for it and sewed up a bonnet for my daughter. I wish I could remember what I did with the pattern. I'd send it to you...... Hubby's grandmother always wore a sunbonnet when she worked outside. Post a pic for us when you finish the dress. |
