I have been searching for a salt mill mechanism for quite a while. Plastic will break. If I'm going to do something like this I hardly want to use plastic anything in it. I have heard of ceramic mills but can't find out where I can purchase them. Stainless steel will rust from the salt.
I'm going to see if I can make a salt shaker from the leftovers.

That is beautiful Dave. Have you tried searching on Google for the item you need for a salt mill?
How tall does the pepper mill stand? It looks to be a pretty good size.

Mary has he always be so gifted?

Hey Dave, you may already know about this forum, but if not I'll bet there are other turners who will know where to get the quality guts for your peppermills. You should post some pictures of your bowl over there too, those guys will appreciate the skill. WoodNet:

OK, 'Creature', disregard my last post; I don't check out that section of the WoodNet forum very often, mostly read the Home Improvement and Off Topic sections.

For the rest of you, the guys over on the woodworking forum were just as impressed as we were! :bg:

Dave's Dad loves the pepper mill and his bowl. He brought them home from work all smiles.
