To All: I have a Singer machine model 384.18024000. I have been using this machine for over a year. Now all of a sudden, the feed dogs are not moving the fabric forward. I have cleaned and dusted the bobbin/feed dog area. There is no thread or derbis that I can see to cause this problem. I have dropped the feed dogs and put them back up again. I have checked that I am in sewing mode and not bobbin fill mode. I do not have a locking backward feed button, it is manual. I have looked in the owners manual and on the Singer web site, but with no luck on finding out what is causing my problem. Please is there anyone that has some suggestions. Thank you, FM |

Being as you have already done all of the things I would have done ,the only other suggestion I have for you is " can you have a look into the innards of your machine to see what would make them move, maybe something has wore out, or slipped out of place, loose screw?, broken belt?. |

FM, I am sure you probably checked to see if the stitch length is off "0" and that your pressure control is set properly. Just a thought. I hope you can figure out the problem. |

Mine did this once, I had put the throat plate back on upsidedown , once I flipped it over to the right side the feed dog grabbed the fabric!!!! |

reply to singerfm: check your feed dogs. If they are not metal but have a plastic or rubber coating on them, you may have to replace them. I bought a Singer Touch and Sew at a yard sale and couldn't get it to sew and that was the problem. That was the first machine I had ever seen with non-metal feed dogs. I replaced them and it sews like a champ now. |

The Singer T & S's had nylon feed dogs. They were great for quilting and didn't snag fabric. If they needed replacing you could either replace them with nylon or metal. The metal ones came in different widths for different machines. I really liked the nylon. |
