I have a Singer Touchtronic - had to replace a part - Can anyone tell me how to check the timing?

I'm by no means an expert, but the 2 times my husband and I have tampered with timing on one of my machines we put the machine back together enough to watch the needle hit or not hit the bobbin case. I would then turn the hand wheel to see how far off it was and adjust the cogs on the bobbin shaft (or which ever shaft you changed) until it was in sync. It helps if you have a simular machine to compare it to.
