One of my friends is letting me use her viking sewing machine, which supposedly does great machine quilting....but currently is without power cords, pedal cords and throat plate. And sans owners manual. But I can't find the owners manual online, because I can NOT find the model number. I am going to take a pic and put it online, but I can't do it. It says 215 on the front, but it's not the one on the website.

Help? I'll post the pic ASAP!

Thanks, Joan in RWC!!!

Joanne, I have looked at that site, but this is an older machine, and I don't see it there. I have uploaded pictures, I am going to post the link here, let me know if it works.

Ok now if you could turn your machine to see if you have any numbers written under on the metal or on the back of the machine. (usually near the bottom.

The tag on the bottom, not a normal UL tag, only for the motor, says
"HVAV MADE IN SWEDEN
TYPE S2 15
57274938"

THAT HELP?

Looks very close to the scandinavian one here http://www.sew.husqvarna.se/index_centrera_java_new.html?url=http://www.sew.husqvarna.se/husk215.htm

I would definately get in touch with them and give all the info you have listed here but do be careful if you are buying parts, at times it is cheaper to replace the machine. Get a quote and see if worth your while. Let me know what goes on with it.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but better that I do now, than you find out after you invest good dollars into it. The S215 (series) was a disaster!

I was a Viking dealer for over 30 years when they came out with this turkey, and when they introduced it and I saw how it was designed/constructed, I refused to put them in my store. This action began the course that eventually ended up with my "breakup" with Viking. A year later, when we went to the introduction of the next model, many of the dealers who had sold the S215s were screaming that they had so many problems that they did not dare sell what they had in their shops. Viking's answer was that the new ones would be better, but they did nothing for the dealers who had invested in and were stuck with the original ones.

Don't waste any money on it!

So the lady who's letting me "borrow" her machine says she's found the rest of the parts for the machine. She and I are going to meet up and see what goes on. I'll let y'all know what transpires.
