So, how is everyone's Halloween sewing going? Here's what I've been doing, and it's all coming together well so far (crossing fingers here): Sophie (3 yrs.): kimono and obi from Folkwear (http://www.folkwear.com/136.html). I'm all done with this project, I just need to rustle up something to wear underneath and figure out how to do her hair. I can't find tatami or zori for a three-year old to save my life!http://www.folkwear.com/images/136phlg.jpg Nels (6 mos.): the lamb from McCall's 4618 (http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/mccallspatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.M4618=x&TI=40020&pageNum=1&M=&UK=32952856). I panicked at the last minute and just chose something easy in a cheesy poly-flannel-ish cheapo fabric. I used measurements from my "new" used book "Short Kutz" to make it sized correctly for my son (long torso, short legs), which worked wonderfully. http://store.sewingtoday.com/cat/mccall/lead/M4618.jpg Me: Frontier woman. Currently sewing the Prairie Dress from Folkwear (http://www.folkwear.com/201.html) (I have already finished the apron which was so much fun!). In fact I am taking a break from crawling around on the floor cutting out the massive amounts of yardage!http://www.folkwear.com/images/201phlg.jpg Then I have to make the bonnet pattern from McCalls (http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/mccallspatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.M9423=x&TI=40020&pageNum=9&M=&UK=32952856) and my costume will be all done. (thanks for the tip, Jessica!) How about you guys? I'd love to see what everyone has planned, and the final results! see the mundane life of a housewife.

Oh! I don't have the pictures yet, but I'd love to share! For SS-11, I made a long black duster...the costume was "Morpheus" from THE MATRIX, but he wore it with a PUNISHER T-shirt. It turned out very well. Now I'm working on an old McCall's pattern of a moose costume for my DS-1. SS-8 is using an old costume, DH refuses to dress (party pooper), and I am struggling to finish that darn moose (hey it's hard to sew with a toddler around!), so I probably won't make anything new for me this year either. I hope to post pictures soon! |

I am not sewing anything for halloween this year. I told teenagers if they want to dress up they can go through the old costumes. They only dress for an hor or so anyway. DGSs have costumes from Walmart one wanted a Carebear & the other a Dragon. both were cheaper to buy than make & Grandma didn't have time this year so DD went shopping.

I just finished today a princess for my DGD, in royal blue and powder blue satin, trimmed in silver. I hope to figure out how to post the pix. My dining room floor is a mess with fraying from the satin...

Everyone's costumes sound so wonderful. Please lets all post pics as we can. I love Halloween. Last year at Halloween is when I first began sewing garments. I had only sewn quilts up until then. So Halloween is kind of like an anniversary for me-lol! Here are pics of my 2 oldest dds: Oldest dd 12- Veteranarian: Her name and DVM are embroidered on her pocket. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/PrincessJenny/ronnaoncareerday.jpg Middle dd 7- Pirate http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/PrincessJenny/verythreateningpirate.jpg Gotta start youngest dd 5's fairy costume Tuesday after I get home from school. Happy Sewing Everyone! Jen in CA |

Hey I'm doing a vampire cloak for my boyfriend and then a white nightdress for myself ( I'll be the girl that got bitten!) and blood down my neck. Quite simple sewing too, so I don't have to worry about time too much. Katie |

Just made the one costume this year - my teen created his own from pieces of previous costumes. My 4 year old was a nun. I adapted the Mary costume from McCall's Children's Nativity pattern. http://www.mypages.iparenting.com/webs/catholicmum/Cathleen.JPG Linda

Here are my spider and ballerina. Remember it is really cold here so they are wearing snow suits under their costumes http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/users/4139f36bzfdc7133e/3354/__sr_/80ad.jpg?phm7ZhBBV9hm8HoR My website

The photos of the costume I made for my SS-11 didn't turn out; too much black. But I got a really cute shot of my DS-1 in his moose costume! Check it out: Argh...stupid tripod. Okay, let's try a link, maybe? http://photos.yahoo.com/hfoutz There are a bunch of folders there; look for the one titled "Halloween". There's only the one picture in it. Of course, if you're morbidly curious, you can browse the others...but this is the only one that shows my sewing! |

I LOVE that moose, he's adorable! The spider and the ballerina are too cute. Ghosties and ghoulies all decked out. The nun is so angelic looking and the obi and kimono are beautiful. Quite an accomplishment Blackie. MaryW

Here's a costume I did for a customer. She wanted to be Cleopatra. I feel like a bad mommy because I didn't make anything for my kids. They rounded up their own costumes. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/greendragondesigns/detail?.dir=bfe0&.dnm=6218.jpg&.src=ph You can't tell on the "apron" thingy, but there's some royal blue embroidery just to jazz it up a bit.
