Someone sent me this, please respond here if you can help. Thanks. :smile:

1. For a 3m wide window I'm using backed calico, is it absolutely necessary to split this. i.e. what maximum width would you recommend? Do you have any tips to ensure a 3m width is successful? I'm planing to use plastic rods so it is lighter.

2. What about the distance between strings, could they be 50cm for a wide blind?

3. For a long narrow blind (2300 long x 670 wide) could I space the rods 50cm, rather than have so much bulk when the blind is raised?

Thanks for your help...Jo

Mary,
Now you can knock your head against the wall. Don't you have directions for blinds in this site. You are playing tricks on us. :smile:

Okay, I'll have a go at this.
1. First which type of blind are you making, one with rod pockets sewn in or attached. Either way you need some kind of seam on the edges. Or are you making the pockets onto the backing so you can't see the seams from the front. If you measure 3m, then you need to add some kind of seam.

2. Usually the strings are on the outside. The rods will pull the blind up. Plastic might be too bendable, depending on how tough they are.

3. This is up to your discretion. The more rods the more folds, less rods, less folds.

Martha
1m =1.09Yard= 1 yard 3 inches
0.5m=0.55 yard= 20'
2.3m=2.5yards=2 yrds 18"
3m=3.3yards=3 yrds 11"
670cm= 0.73yard = 26 1/4"

to convert m to yrds multiply by 1.09

decimal yards to inches multiply 0.x yard by 0.36

use a calculator!

Magot,
are you sure about the cm part ?? She was asking about spacing something 50 cm's apart so how could 670 cm = only 26 inches ???
Now I am confused ! ! :nc: :nc:

moment of confusion here - 670cm is 6 m 70cm so I assume she didn't mean that as she said it was a long (2m30) narrow blind . I assume that it isn't 23m long either..

I have no trouble when I just measure in meters - all these inches are confusing me.

Just wanted to pass this conversion site address on -- I found it a couple of weeks ago and it's been a big help, since even though I use a calculator sometimes I'm not sure what to multiply or divide by what!
