I'm very new to sewing. I haven't done this in over 20 years so I'm not really sure what I'm doing. I want to embroider a name on some felt. I'm making a Christmas stocking. Do I need special embrodery thread or can I use regular thread? My sewing machine does allow for the embroidery stitch but I'm not sure about the thread. Thanks a bunch Annie |

No Annie, this is not a stupid question. Welcome to Sew Whats New. It is just very general. You are using a sewing machine I think, so I will answer this way. If you have a scrap of felt, using your regular sewing thread and do the embroidery that way. If you are not happy with it, try with embroidery thread. There are a million different types of thread and methods of embroidery. Experiment on scraps, that will tell you which type you like the best. By the way, we have a Christmas stocking challenge on this site if you would like to join us. MaryW
