I was wondering if anyone else had stories about their local sewing machine dealer, shop owner, neighbor etc. who go above and beyond to help out and make sewing such a fun and rewarding lifestyle. What do you do to let them know that you appreciate them?

I go to my local Husqvarna dealer when I need something. From day one John and Louise (she sells machines, he fixes them in their little basement shop) have gone above and beyond to help me out.

When I first moved here, John spent over an hour on the phone with me helping me figure out how to use a twin needle, and he didn't know me from anybody. When my machines needs fixing, he takes them apart in front of me and teaches me as he fixes it.

When I have a garage sale machine that I am fixing up to be sent to Romania or Haiti to the sewing schools that our church is involved with he vets it and teases me about soaking me when I bring my machine in when I try to pay him. They passed out my flyers when I started teaching sewing lessons and on and on.

I take them homemade jam and fresh vegetables in the summer to let them know that I appriciate them, because it is people like them (and the people in this group) which
make this such a fun hobby.

I ALWAYS go to my dealer first when I want or need something. She sells Bernina, Janome machines and has a fabric shop too. I get the best of all of it, supplies, great service on my machine, someone who knows me well enough to say, "Kathy we have.....it just came in." She has specials all the time, gives us half our ages off merchandise during our birth month and has great 'parties'. Novembers party is for the local animal shelter. Go to the party, bring stuff for the shelter, sign up to win a machine and eat yourself silly. She's a great person, her staff is wonderful. Lessons galore, what more could you want....( I want two more machines....I'm trying to talk my husband into it now :bluewink: )
 for Margies in Crestview, FL.
