Can I use a sleeppants pattern (such as McCalls 4136 or Simplicity5270) with sweatpant fleece successfully? I plan to add elastic to the ankles and omit the drawstring at the waist. I haven't had good luck finding a pattern for men's/teen boys sweatpants. I have some black sweatpant fleece that I was given and my son needs sweatpants so....

I would say yes, just be careful that the pj pattern isn't too full.

www.kwiksew.com has loads of patterns for men and boys for knits.
