Hi all. I am brand new to this site, and to machine embroidery - I have a Pfaff 7570, which I am beginning to understand... what I would like to know, is can you use iron on interfacing (eg, vilene) instead of tear away when free machine embroidering? I am designing (and then will sew) a wall hanging for our church, and would prefer to use interfacing for the 'body' it gives fabric, rather than tear away. Any one tried this with success / failure?? I am also going to have a look at some of the sites folk have listed on here for machine embroidery. Thankyou for such a great and helpful site. |

I have a link here that may help you out. Just make sure if using vilene it is not the washaway type. http://www.taunton.com/threads/pages/t00128.asp |

Iron-on is mostly used on knits, so they don't shift. (as is sticky) I HAVE used sticky on cotton and is works very well....I don't use tear-away much, it's a pain to sew through when the design is dense.(it rips away before you're through) What I DO like and use a lot is cut away stuck to the fabric with SulkyK2000. (spray)

I used Floriani Stablizers and they are fabulous. They cost a little more but the out come is worth it. I never thought stablizer could make that much of a difference but it does make a difference when you use the right one for the right fabric. the website to find a dealer close to you or to order on the internet is www.floriani.com I purchased it at the conference and now I think that is all I'm going to use. He sells a beige ultra no show flusible nylon mesh to use under baby things and clothes that you want to stay soft and invisible and it's great. They'll send you out some samples of everything he has if you'd like to try it first. But beware once you try it you'll be hooked. Another one is www.zieglersembroiderysupply.com. They will send out samples also and that's what i used before the Floriani, they have good prices on their stablizers. Hope this helps |
