Here is "the dress" (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/mamagoose/hickkara3.jpg) It took me forever and still wasn't perfect, but the kids had a great time. I was down to the wire on this one. Particular problems to pass on...the black slinky ended up being a crinkly type with a sheen when I received it in the mail. I finally decided this was nicer than plain and went ahead. It was working out wonderfully until the end when I decided to run an iron over it. I tested a swatch first and all looked ok, but little did I know ironing those crinkles just a bit was elongating the dress! So, it was a quite a surprise to me when she put the dress on for the go that it was touching the floor! The shrug is a separate piece, the dress being strapless. I had to alter the sleeves and across the shoulders to get the slinky fit there. It was when I had to take stitches out, being that I had tiny little black zig zags in that textured fabric. This was a time when I wished the thread didn't match exactly. I did take in the dress some, but she has one of those perfect pattern figures! I think I've inspired her mom back into sewing, as she purchased some fleece for a little poncho for her 10yod. She hasn't sewn since she first got married. I remember that lull when I hadn't made anything for myself in years, just kid costumes and pjs. Well, it's time to clean my house being that dh is working today. |

Well, that particular young lady would look spectacular in a potato sack, but she looks super-spectacular in that dress! I hope she appreciates the time, talent and love you put into it. They both look gorgeous . |

Thank you all for the kind remarks. I had had a bigger photo but shrunk it because it was too big. I guess I got it too small. Except for the "granny" dances they didn't know what to do about, they had a great time! Have to go to work today , happy sewing! |
