I just finished a table runner that has outside and inside corners. I am just putting on the bias binding, but no matter what I have tried I can't seem to get the inside turn right. Does anyone know how to do this. Help!!!!!!!!

Hi, ShirleyP. The method I have found easiest to use to make a mitered corner is to lay the runner in front of you right side up, with the corner to your right (if you're right-handed). With your bias binding folded and pressed, extend the binding up past the raw edge of the corner. Insert a straight pin at a right angle to the binding, exactly at the cut edge of your runner, with the pin head extending to your right (to keep it accessible). Now fold the binding toward you and to the left, using your finger to hold the pleat that will form by itself -- that's your mitered corner. Insert another straight pin diagonally through that pleat to hold it in place, and continue to apply your binding to the rest of your runner. I use this method on both inside and outside corners.

Hope this helps!

I must be doing something wrong. I have done the mitred outside corner for years, but when I try to do this in the inside it tries to do two mitres as I fold it over. Does this make any sense. First the point needs to be folded over and then the sides. The outside corner is 90 degree and the inside corner is also a 90 degree. The edge looks like a step. Straight out, then straight down and then straight out again.

Good morning, Shirleyp. I'm writing from work (naughty me!) but I just tried a binding made of paper and the inside miter should work just like the outside miter. I don't understand why the double fold appears -- have you tried using a straight pin at the center fold of your binding (from the underside) to force it to stay straight when you make the fold?
