Hello, everyone ... I'm new to this forum. I've been checking out some of the threads; there's so much here. I'm going to enjoy being part of this community! I need to make a sash ... the type draped over the body as in a pageant. Thanks for any suggestions. |

Hi Vetfit and welcome to Sew Whats New. I think all you would do is measure the length you want and decide on a finish for the ends. What type of fabric are you using? MaryW

I can't believe it. I found instructions for a sash. Here's what it says. 1/2 yd. of 45" fabric Place fabric single thickness right side up. Cut a 14" by 41" rectangle. With right sides together, fold rectangle in half lengthwise and pin. Press fold. On long raw edge, mark 3 3/4" down from one end. Draw a diagonal line between this mark and nearest opposite corner. Cut along this line thru both layers. Cut along foldline so you now have 2 sections for your sash. Sew the 2 sections together at short, straight ends with french seam or serge. Hem by serging or turn under narrow hem. I found this in my very old Simplicity's Simply The Best Sewing Book. MaryW
