I have a scarf started as a gift.

I am fringing the edges. It is a larger one that will go over the shoulders and knot in the front. I am making it to go with a friend's winter coat.

I cut a square of printed rayon fabric 45" square. Cut off the selvages, then I stitched around the entire outer edge with a short, straight stitch. I cut all the way around the shawl/scarf every couple of inches. Now I am ravelling the edges, pulling out threads. What a mess but it will be nice.

Hi Mary,
How long are the fringes? I notice fringed things seem to be in this year...e.g. jackets with fringed pockets, etc.
Take care,
Donna

My fringe is only about 1" long, but the longer the better this year.

My gift is for someone quite conservative.
