Hi, I am new to this forum. I live in Auckland, New Zealand and have been quilting for approximately two years. I have just bought some fabric yesterday to make quilted placemats for a Christmas Present for my mother, (she is at that difficult to buy for stage!!!)

There is an International Quilting Symposium being held in Auckland in January, and I have got the classes I wanted, namely Hand Quilting with Luxin Newman, and Quiltmarking 101 and Cables and Fans with Gwen Marston. I will also be a gofer for the other days that I don't have classes.

This looks like a very helpful and friendly board, and I have enjoyed reading the messages this morning.

Hi Diane and welcome to Sew Whats New.

I envy you going to the show, I would love to hear Luxin Newman teach.

Hi Di

I live over on the North Shore, so we have a bit of distance between us.

No, I am not a member Ak Patchwork and Quilters Guild. Might consider it one day though. I do believe it is very good. I haven't done a lot on the quilting side of sewing, more embroidery and lots of garment sewing.
