Has anyone ever used a special foot for sewing velvet? I found the "Velvet V Foot" (http://www.clotilde.com/cl/product_group.asp?g_id=107864-4) at Clotilde.com, and wondering how well it actually works. Any thoughts?
Also, has anyone tried their needleboard?

Thanks for your help!

I've never used a special foot for velvet. I have tried a walking foot and it works as well as anything. If your velvet is thick enough you can press the fibers together lightly down the seam line (don't smash the velvet) and they really don't tend to walk. If this is working you can tell because it is like putting two brushes together and the fabric will seem stable. This has worked well for me with the walking foot. I think that a teflon foot would probably work too.

As for the needle board, it works fine. We used one in high school. There is a cloth that is also sold but I prefer the board because I know that it will work. It is a little pricy for its size (very small) so if you buy it, you need to hang it someplace or put it in a special box...you don't want to bend the needles in storage. I purchased one a few years ago from Clotilde and was suprised at how much they had shrunk in 30 years. If you happen to run across one at a garage sale that is the old fashioned type....GRAB IT! They just don't make them like they used to.
