Hi everyone! I am so glad I found this board -seems that I could finally get an answer to my question. I am working on my bridesmaids gowns -tops are strapless with boning sewn in inside seams; 2 in front 2 in back. I purchased poly boning -it is shaped in circle from the packaging. How do I straighten it? Should I iron it? Also, am I doing it right with 4 boned seams (6 seams total)? Here is the picture of the outfit - zipper will be in the side seam. Skirt turned out great so far http://www.fabulous-bridals.com/w/imgs/bridesmaids.jpg |

It will straighten out by itself, it is quite flexible. Probably 4 seams are all you could bone and still be a little comfortable.

Gorgous outfit.Hope it turns out well. Talking of boning Im always wondering, if i made a dress with boning in the top bodice section, how far down should the boning stop?Should it be around belly button length? |

Comfort tip, don't forget to round the ends of your boning (ie fingernail oval shape) or it will cut through your fabric and into you! I usually end boning where my body bends ie the waistline or it hurts! If you decide to leave it longer ie to hips etc make sure it is long enough not to ride up into you and will skim down the side of your body (hope that made sense) Jeanette

great advicece on rounding tips! Thank you! Where I read, you make tho boning 'till the hips start. Kind-of make it end on the waste, and it will sit there. I have put the project on the hold, due to hollidays. * glad to have to board back* |
