Recently I started using a new way to use my multi-sized patterns for kids. I lay my pattern down with wax paper on top. Then I trace the size I want out on the wax paper with a seam ripper or nail file. Anything sharp that will mark the paper. Then, I lay the wax paper down on my blank paper and cut out pattern. I have a huge roll of wax paper so I won't be running out any time soon. It is readily available and cheap.

That's a terrific idea! Lately, I've been transferring all of my old patterns to fabric. I've been buying really old, cheap, thin sheets from thrift stores & yard sales then tracing the patterns. I've had some of my patterns for ten years or longer, and wanted a more permanent solution for the ones I use over & over. The wax paper is a good idea. Heavy enough to last, cheap enough to buy by the league, and thin enough to trace easily. "No more twist! No more twist!"

I've been using tissue paper because it's cheap, and easy to see through for tracing...but boy is it a bear to work with! Pin it once and it shreds...ugh. I will definitely have to try the wax paper idea, thanks! |

If the pattern piece is wider than the wax paper, I just tape two together side by side. I like it a lot better than anything else I have used thus far.
