Susie - You sure have been busy the past month! Everything looks great. About the only thing I've got done are some pillows and embroidered towels. I have lots of photo pillows to do before Christmas but I usually don't have time to do "fun" projects until the very last minute. My 8 year old granddaughter loves to sew and embroider also and she's been busy making gifts for her teachers. I'm hoping to whip up a new Christmas tree skirt this weekend. I have lots of silk scraps and thought it would make a beautiful skirt. I'll let you know how it progresses!

Hi Martha,
I just wrote you a message and then the site when down or something and it was lost.
I just got interested in embroidery. What machine do you have? I've been doing a lot of research of the different machines and such.
I hope your tree skirt turns out great.
I saw your pillows and window treatments and WOW. Great job and I bet you are super busy.
Thanks for liking what I have made,

Susie - I have the Brother 8500. When I first got "addicted" to machine embroidery, I was going to get the Brother 180, but hubby said I wouldn't be happy with that so he got me the 8500. I originally wanted it only for doing designs for the grands and for playing with in my spare time. (But then I realized I DON'T HAVE SPARE TIME!! LOL) I incorporate designs in window treatments, towels, and pillows for clients. This machine is so easy to operate, just ask my 8 year old granddaughter. She has been sewing on it for the past 2 years with me and loves to edit designs and make blankets for her baby sister. It also have the larger hoops, plus it came with a megahoop for super large designs. There are other machines that are very good, but I am very happy with my Brother.
Thanks for the compliment on my treatments. I love sewing!!

Martha,
I bet your machine is wonderful and I'm sure it gets used a lot.
I really don't want to spend a lot. I may be sorry If I don't but
I think it will be just for play anyway.

Susie, Martha is right. If you are going to take the plunge take it all the way. I first got the Brother 150 and thought it was wonderful. Then I got the Janome 9000 which is a very nice machine but the sewing field is not as big as I want so here two years later and 3000.00 in the hole I'm taking the plunge again and getting the Singer XL 6000 this week. It's addictive and if you are going to do it do it up good and get one that will make you satisfied for a while. Once you start doing embroidery work by machine you're hooked and can't walk in a store without finding something to embroidery on. It's really bad!!!! LOL So one susie to another susie, Go all the way girl you won't be sorry. I promise!!!!!

Susie,
I know what you are saying is probably right but I can only do what I can do if you know what I mean. For me to get the lowest end would be pushing it. I don't even know if I can do that. That's why I say maybe in a year.
Oh well.
Thanks,
Susie

That's how it was when I first got mine too Susie I do understand. If you get a machine also check out how you are going to have to trasnsfer the designs you get to the machine. Reader Writer Box with cards or if the machine hooks up directly to a computer for downloading. I didn't know I needed all this before I bought my first machine and was forced to spend more money on the box. Singer has come up with a machine that hooks right up to the computer for downloading designs to the machine and it's not as expensive as maybe buying a low end machine and then buying the box to download the designs. The machines are around 400.00 to 500.00 and the boxes are around 175.00 to 200.00. The new singer is around 700.00 give or take.

I hope I helped. Let me know if you need anymore help or have anymore questions.

Susie,
What I'm leaning towards it the White 3300 with the Ultimate USB BOX. I have over 10,000 designs saved already. :)
Who knows.......maybe in a year I may not even want to get involved in it.
If I'm still this interested in it next year......look out. :)
Thanks Susie for the tips,

Susie - I have a feeling that you will still be interested in it next year, especially since you already have a library of designs. That's good that you started with that, then when you get your machine, you'll be ready to have fun!! Take your time comparing your options, looking at the extra hardware needed, such as the Ultimate or Magic Box and a resizing and conversion program such as Embird. Like the "other" Susie said, it IS addicting! (but it's SEW much fun!)

I made my very first table runner in red green and cream fabric. Three 12" patchwork squares with a border. I'm a proud bunny. ( I am also logged on at school as my home has lost you forever it feels)

Magot, there is a mess up somewhere if you can post from work but not home.
Hang in there, it will right itself.

Thanks for the kind words Martha, Tony has already tried to lose it at church (he is not a patchwork lover) I got the pattern from one of the sites that you click on on the header bar and it sends you free stuff!( sleeping bear I think it was) So click away girls,It's good for you, and good for the site.
