I am wanting to make jackets for my 3 guys to go with their kilts. The problem I am having is I need 15 - 3/4" square buttons for each jacket. I live in a small town with not much available . Does anyone know of a website that carries buttons? I need them pretty quick. |

I don't know if these sites will have exactly what you need, but they are great button sites! http://www.buttonsgaloreandmore.com/index.php http://www.gregory-knopp.co.uk/acatalog/Gregory_Knopp_Online_Craft_Embellishments___Button s_6.html pam

Fabricat, at a sewing guild meeting I attended several months ago, A local designer/employee of the Bernina dealer gave a program .. She had lots of clothes she had sewn for herself and embellished in various ways.. Some she had stencilled on.. One of the designs was a coffee cup full of steaming coffee.. Her friend made buttons for her out of polymer clay that were coffee beans.. That was a wonderful trigger of thoughts for me.. Why not make your own out of polymer clay.. Sounds like you have the perfect item to make original design buttons for.. And the baking time is so short to make them ... Why not experiment??? Sew With Love

I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but most craft shops sell FIMO. You could EASILY make your own with that... Or use it to recover and adapt ones you have... So ifyou have a round one in the wrong color but right size, cover it with the right colored fimo and shape it square. It requires 20min baking to set and 'Voilą' you've got the perfect button... You can imbed things into it too, like a littel bead, or sparkles, or a piece of ribbon... I can NEVER find the button that exists in my head... Fimo helps... |

Fimo is one of the various brand names for polymer clay...

Thank-you for all your ideas. I did find on one of the websites round "Celtic Knot" buttons. Not exactly what I had in mind but they will do. The poymar clay and fimo ideas were great and I think when I have more time to create I will try to create my own buttons. I'm with you, I can never find what is in my head |
