I got a Golden One Touch at a tag sale. It was in very good condition and I had only to adjust tension. Had only used for about 10 minutes then a period of (2 mos.) inactivity. When I came back the machine broke needles. I found that the thing that turns under the bobbin is in the wrong place when the needle comes down. I've cleaned but feel the machine must be out of time. What can I do? Thanks, |

Man, is that a Blast from the Past! The only thing that I would know to do is to take it in to a Singer dealer and have it adjusted. Some of these machines were wonderful! Some were a little tempremental.

The 700 series has a rubber, toothed timing belt between the upper and lower shafts. There is an idler pulley to take up some slack, but eventually they get too loose for this to work and the main shaft has to be pulled to replace it. If you were lucky enough that the pulley took up the slack, you would probably find that the belt has skipped a cog or two, and it will need to be retimed. Bill Holman |
